Riding a hoverboard is as much fun as drinking tea

Usually, I’m not the type of person who talks about and thinks about drinking tea and doing other stuff. That’s like thinking about walking and chewing gum at the same time. Oftentimes, people just do it, and they don’t make a big deal out of it.

However, in this case I’m going to make an exception regarding hoverboards because you might be thinking that it is the polar opposite of the experience of drinking tea. After all, when people drink tea, it’s usually to unwind. Usually, when people serve tea with each other, they talk about what’s going on with their lives. They might talk about important stuff like politics or even philosophical or spiritual issues.

Drinking tea with people you respect and know for a long time kind of does that. It kind of breaks the ice because it’s very different from drinking beer with people. It’s definitely very different from drinking hard liquor because, for the longest time, people who drink tea tend to go through a ritual. You’re supposed to drink tea a certain away at a certain time.

It is no surprise that there is a tremendous amount of sophistication and elegance that has attached to the ritual of drinking tea for over two hundred years now. This all started with the British. There is a lot of civility there. There are a lot of class dimensions as well. I know it sounds snobbish, and it may even seem out of place and a bit backwards, but let’s call a spade a spade.

For the longest time, if you drank tea, people thought you are high-class. Now, the whole idea of class in our modern culture is somewhat anathema at worst and kind of cheesy at best. We would like to believe that we’re all equal. We would all like to believe that, in the West at least, there’s really not much difference from somebody living in a shack and somebody in a mansion. Well, we’re all entitled to our myths, but the reality is class and differences are not going to go away any time soon.

I raise this is because the whole idea of riding around in a hoverboard kind of involves the same class and fun dynamics as drinking tea. It’s rather a transcendent feeling because it’s a self-powered skateboard. So, it’s not like you’re using you own power. You’re not pushing yourself through your foot to get from point A to point B.

However, it also allows you to engage in some lighthearted fun. It’s not just for teenagers. A hoverboard can actually be great fun for even 50-year-olds if we believe that.

So, do yourself a big favor. If you’re looking to break boundaries and just let your hair down, you might want to get on top of a hoverboard. You would be surprised as to just how much fun it is. It might be able to give you the release and the sense of excitement that you thought you had lost forever.
